ABOUT

For this project I created adverts for Wilson Champion Toffees using the technique of - Political humour, as the brief was given, right after the South African, State of the Nation Address 2016 -SONA .

During the SONA, President Jacob Zuma was interrupted during his speech, while discussing Fiance Minster Nhlanhla Nene, By Julius Malema shouting the word "Zupta", a combination of President Zuma's surname as well as they infamous Gupta family. Thus, the idea seen in first TV advert, Malema would have been unable to interrupt Zuma's speech if he would have had a Champion Toffee in his mouth. This idea became apparent after establishing the insight that people find these sweets to be very sticky and often cannot talk while eating them. The second advert addresses another occurrence during the SONA whereby Jacob Zuma was unable to read the numbers concerning the ANC membership, which then became a social trend and country wide banter.  The third and final aspect addressed, was based off the excessive usage of the word 'honorable speaker' during the SONA .
