Rationale
In this project I created 3 adverts for Wilson Champion Toffees in three different mediums. Humour was utilized, as I do believe it’s the strongest form of advertisement. After watching the State of the nation address I decided to use this as the inspiration for my work.
After acknowledging that fact that these sweets could be used as a means to keep someone quiet (due to the intense chewy texture), I decided to use this for the concept of my first advert.
Zuma's speech and the overwhelming reaction to him misreading numbers, resulted in the creation of this Radio advert. I decided to utilize this trend as it was current and therefore easy to create both a buzz and awareness around this advert.
Another aspect of this address that came to my attention and was largely spoken about, was the excessive use of the phase 'Honourable Speaker". I thus used this as the concept for my third advert by highlighting the ridiculousness of the amount of times the phase was said. Lastly, I created the advert in the style of tetras as research showed that people associated the product with their childhood and I wanted to incorporate this nostalgic feeling.
